Transitioning To Winter - Room by Room - Kitchen & Breakfast Area
I don't know if you are like me or not, but when all the Christmas is down I am so ready for simple and sleek no frill decor. Seems like Christmas is almost always "overload" so pairing down to the basics is what I really, really long for right about now.
I love to start my cleaning with the kitchen since it seems to always have some glitter and pine needles hanging around after all the decor is removed. To me it seems like getting all the glitter out of a room is the hardest. I vacuum and mop several times before I think I finally achieve a "no sparkle" room. Also my kitchen really gets a workout during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Tons of baking, candy making and lots of big dinners and entertaining. Even though I continually clean it, when all the decor is gone I always feel like it needs a really deep cleaning.
Now that the kitchen is clean, time to add back a little bit of decor, but really plain and simple.
I love my yellow pig and he just seems to fit my kitchen and I also love the brass tray to hold all of my day to day cooking oils and essentials.
This corner where the mixer is needs a little decor, but nice and simple here too. A cutting board that's easy to grab and a bottle of Port that I love to cook with.
The island needs something, but maybe just a pretty chache pot with some ivy and ---
the candy scale with faux fruit.
