TAG Heuer Carrera Skipper
Arguably better known for its connection to motor racing, TAG Heuer offers a timely reminder of its legacy in yachting now and then with distinctive timepieces such as the new Skipper chronograph. Launched in 1968, the Skipper was commissioned to commemorate the victory of the Intrepid in the America?s Cup of 1967, for which the watchmaker, then just “Heuer” before its acquisition, provided the winning yacht and its crew with stopwatches and wristwatches. Though the last full production was released in 1983, the Skipper is now back and looking as sharp as ever.
The contemporary reinterpretation bears updated features such as a bezel-free glass box Carrera, a curved flange dial and counter colours tuned for higher contrast and better legibility during yacht racing. Within the 39mm case lies the TH20-06 movement, with bi-directional winding and an 80-hour power reserve.
The new Carrera Skipper will join TAG Heuer?s core collection as the flagship model for more sailing-inspired watches to come.
