La Biennale di Venezia and Cartier have announced that British director and producer Ridley Scott (“Alien”, “Bladerunner”, “The Martian”), will be awarded the ‘Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award’ at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. The award is dedicated to a personality who has made a significant original contribution to contemporary cinema.
Ridley Scott is one of the foremost directors and producers in the world ? and he is no stranger to awards. His illustrious career is marked by monumental films such as “Thelma & Louise”, “Blade Runner”, “Alien” and “Gladiator”. The latter film won the Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA Awards for Best Picture. Over the years, he has also been lauded by the Emmy Awards, Cannes Film Festival, and the PGA Awards.
The awards ceremony for ‘Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker’ took place on Friday, September 10, 2021, in the Sala Grande, before the screening of Scott’s upcoming film, “The Last Duel” starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, and Ben Affleck. Scott was awarded a trophy designed by the Maison Cartier.
