The beauty industry is notoriously known for its use of plastics in its packaging. As many of these products are often discarded after use, the amount of waste generated is unimaginable. In 2018, it is said that an estimated 120 billion units of cosmetics packaging were produced globally. This includes lipsticks, foundation cases, bottles, pumps, caps, and others. Unfortunately, only 9 per cent of all plastic waste is recycled, with the remainder ending up in landfills, dumps, or incinerated.
