Shades of Blue Lamp Makeover
It may not officially be summer on the calendar, but it sure is summer here! I felt it spray painting today's thrift store makeover for our monthly group!
We just returned from a trip of a lifetime to Italy. I can't wait to share it all with you in the weeks to come. It was so much better that I even dreamed.
Today's project was inspired by the ceiling in our hotel room in Rome. It was beautifully painted. I'm having major technical issues with my computer today so I'm going to try to get a photo added to this post of the ceiling later today.
Shades of Blue Lamp Makeover
I found this lamp a while back in one of our local thrift stores. I love the shape, not so much the peeling decoupage and dirty shade. I peeled off the decoupage and had to sand it a little bit.
I picked up the perfect little burlap shade in Lowes. I like the contrast against the all white spray paint.
With artist brushes I painted the rim around the base and the top in a pretty blue-green paint. I painted 2 coats. I went across the top edge here with a very fine brush. I didn't want to tape for a crisp line. I wanted a hand painted look.
I then taped a Martha Stewart stencil to the center front of the lamp.
I ever so lightly distressed the blue-green areas.
Finally, I applied 2 coats of a satin spray sealer.
It's perfect in my daughter's bedroom makeover which is a work in progress. We purchased white Ikea panels before leaving for the trip, but haven't had a chance to install them ...
