Runway Report: Schiaparelli SS19 Couture
The Opéra Garnier in Paris was the venue of choice for Schiaparelli‘s Fall Couture show. A grandiose affair dedicated to the memory of founder, Elsa and her iconic style. It is known that Ms. Schiaparelli had panache for dressing up and often adopted a uniform for each time of the day. Her most stand-out style would occur after dark and could only be described as flamboyant.
In present-day Paris, a sea of ethereal and well-dressed models cascaded down the runway donning nothing more than pure elegance. It was almost as though Elsa herself was going to enter at any moment. Bertrand Guyon opened up the show with a pair of billowy navy and white silk pants, paired with a black, Nehru-collared jacket sporting gold hand-emblem clasps. This was followed by a tangerine, magenta and red silk-satin jumpsuit with turtleneck top, cut-out shoulder detail and sash-like detailing.
One of our favorite looks was a demure, sleeveless black tunic with a front slit which allowed for the heavily-beaded pants in emerald and ivory to peek through. Paired with fully-embellished ankle booties, it?s no wonder Elsa?s style is looked upon heavily when designing a collection. From her poised to her eclectic ensembles, we see many more couture shows dedicated to this icon.
