Runway Report: Giambattista Valli SS19 Couture
Giambattista Valli?s Haute Couture Fall 2019 runway show at Pavillon Gabriel was exceedingly pure, and exquisite, but it also had an undeniable and completely unexpected youthful, cheeky energy.  This type of multigenerational inclusivity in final designs presented at the couture shows is the scene?s new reality, as haute couture customers seem to be younger than ever before.
?We have a lot of new generations of young girls coming and buying haute couture from all over the world, so that?s very nice and it?s very inspiring, and they have a different attitude to wearing it,? explains the designer backstage.
But even with midriff baring bandeau tops, minidresses, and high-waisted trousers, Valli?s famous detailing and use of textures reminded the audience of his couture brilliance. The seemingly more practical pieces with significantly fewer long trains, were still cleverly embellished with voluminous ruffles, or were appropriately feather adorned. And in instances where he used the silhouette of a leisure suite for a night appropriate black satin jumpsuit, there were enough glistening Choparddiamonds to give a nod to haute couture as we know it.
