Gianni Versace: A Retrospective
Gianni Versace loved Berlin, a city as vibrant as he was. In fact, the roots of his success lie in Germany. His very first fashion show was organized in 1978 in the small city of Lippstadt and in 1994 he held his first exhibition in Berlin and was so fascinated, that he planned to come back. Sadly, just three years later, at the height of his success, Gianni Versace was murdered at his home in Miami, Florida.
Thus, 2018 is the perfect year for commemorating this extraordinary man and his work in an exhibition, brought to Berlin by private collectors from Italy and around the world, including many famous fashion highlights and pieces worn by celebrities like Prince, Madonna, Elton John, George Michael and models such as Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista. The exhibition is being housed in one of most beautiful buildings in Berlin, the Kronprinzenpalais (Crown Prince’s Palace) at the Prachtboulevard “Unter den Linden” and showcases hundreds of original Gianni Versace works from 1978 to 1997. This includes iconographic fashion, but also interior design, porcelain, jewellery and other original designs. There will also be a range of multimedia installations and a variety of shows and performances on offer.
Gianni Versace?s world is set to come to life again from 30 January 2018 to 14 April 2018 in Berlin and tickets can be purchased online here.
