Last night there was an interesting reportage  on the news channel concerning French linen.Did you know that France is the world's biggest supplier of flax and that the majority is grown between Normany and Flanders.110,000 tons of fibre are produced annually with 80% being  sold and shipped to China where it is then turned into linen and made into garments which are then shipped back to France and other countries around the world.France stopped making linen in the 1980's as it was no longer economical.The good news is that the linen making industry ius now making a return to France and will be used to poroduce high end garments.Fingers crossed that more of the now obsolete manufacturing industries are able to make a comeback as it is better for both the environment and for French people and the French economy....a demain mes belles??Leeann x
