Board & Batten in the Upstairs Bathroom
A couple of years ago we remodeled our upstairs bathroom. Even though the room is tiny, the changes transformed a very dreary bathroom into a much more current and fresh space. You can read all about it here. Lately though I've been wanting to add a little more character in the form of board and batten. R and I studied up on the basics (there are tons of tutorials out there) and decided to do it ourselves. I'm so happy with the results and the fact that I can FINALLY share pictures with you all today!
We used MDF for the vertical pieces that we had cut into strips at the hardware store. The rest is wood. We played around with the layout until we found a scenario that looked right to us. It was an easy project, but it overlapped weekends because that's the only time we have to work on projects like this.
I also wanted to add hooks instead of the traditional towel bar that was there. I like them much better!
The medicine cabinet was replaced with a pivot mirror that is much larger than the mirror that was there. When it comes to mirrors, go big!
During the process, we took the door off so we had enough room to work. Having the door off made the room feel twice as big so we've decided to leave it off and add a sliding barn door. We haven't started working on it yet, but I will be sharing pictures on instagram once we do. Can't wait!
