ART POP UP - with Joan from For The Love of a House
Today has been a long day coming, one that I'm insanely grateful for the chance to be working with my dear friend Joan on. Joan has been my biggest cheerleader in getting me back to the canvas, to start painting again, putting that creative product out to the world. She's been a huge inspiration to me not only in the paintings that are a part of this pop up, but in my decor and my life. Without her, I don't know that I'd ever had put paint to brush, but it certainly wouldn't have been here and now with all of you. So thanks Joan, and THANK YOU for popping over to the pop up!
A LITTLE ABOUT MY ART BACKGROUND
My earliest painting was at 3. It was of my mother, father, me and our new house. It wasn't very good. But it hung in a frame on the wall of that house for years. At 9, I sent away for a free art test from the Art Institute. Do you remember those commercials" When it came, I spent hours on the pamphlet size test and sent it back all without my mother knowing. Then they sent someone to the house, to sign me up for the school. Just $99 and they'd continue to send me materials to draw on through the mail. Bless my mother! I studied art throughout high school and college, even majoring in studio art before making it my minor in my Junior year. I put the brush away for years after that, focusing on my interior design endeavors, and Cross Bottle Guy sculpture, except for a few paintings that were done from time to time.
