Amalfi, Ravello & Postitano, Italy
There are so many things to see and do in the Amalfi Coast that you really have to have a great game plan so that you don't miss anything. One day we toured Amalfi, Ravello, and Positiano with a private driver. Our driver, Ilio, was not only friendly and knowledgeable, but he was also hilarious. He was great for pointing out to things we would have missed, recommending places to shop and dine, and skilled at navigating those curvy roads.
On our way to Amalfi we stopped at the Amalfitana bridge. It crosses a small beach wedged between cliffs where the annual Mediterranean Cup high diving competition takes place. Just thinking about this makes me a little light headed!
Next we stopped in the beautiful town of Amalfi to do a little shopping and site seeing. There are so many stores and restaurants you could spend the day there. I found the cutest dress in one of the boutiques.
After that we headed to Ravello and toured Villa Rufolo. The home was built in the 13th century and is now famous for an annual summer concert series. The gardens were my favorite part.
(even the flowers waiting to be planted are beautiful in citrus crates)
Our guide recommended Cumpa' Cosimo for lunch and it did not disappoint! How often do you get to eat in a restaurant that's over 100 years old!" We also shopped at Pascal for hand painted ceramics. The people are very friendly and take such pride in their work. ...
